PS4 Version of Quantum Error Cancelled Due to Hardware Limitations
TeamKill has announced the cancellation of the PS4 version of their highly anticipated game, Quantum Error. The decision was made due to hardware limitations, with the studio believing that the PS4 version would not be able to live up to the quality of the PS5 version. Instead, Quantum Error will be released for PC and current-generation consoles.
In a statement on Twitter, TeamKill explained, “Unfortunately, we are going to have to cancel the PS4 version of QE. Even with the game being made from the beginning for the PS5, we still had hopes we could make a PS4 version happen, but with the level of quality we have achieved with QE with gameplay running at 60fps, we have reached the conclusion that there is no way for us to deliver a version on PS4 that would live up to what the PS5 is going to deliver.”
The studio further elaborated, stating that creating a PS4 version would require significant downgrading and changes to assets, lighting, and more. Given the differences in memory and slower HDD speed, the PS4 version would provide a very different experience that would not compare to the PS5 version, which would not be fair to PS4 players.

TeamKill also confirmed that Quantum Error will be coming to Xbox Series X|S, in addition to PC and current-generation consoles. The studio clarified that there was never an Xbox One version in development.
While a release date for the game has yet to be announced, TeamKill assured fans that it will be revealed soon. It should be noted that the PC port will not be available at launch alongside the console versions, and there is currently no information on when it will be completed.
