Activision Confirms Season 5 of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone Arriving on August 2
Activision has officially announced that Season 5 of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone will be launching on August 2. The roadmap for the upcoming season reveals a host of new features and updates for multiplayer and Warzone modes.
Call of Duty Season 5: Shadow Company and Phillip Graves
The theme of Call of Duty Season 5 revolves around the notorious Shadow Company and its former leader, Phillip Graves. As always, the season will introduce a brand-new battle pass, with options for free, premium, and extra-premium Blackcell battle passes.
New Operators, Weapons, and Bundles
Season 5 will introduce six new operators, including Philip Graves, Oz, and Mila. Graves will be available as part of the premium battle pass, while the other operators will be offered as shop bundles. Additionally, famous hip hop artists Snoop Dogg, Nicki Minaj, and 21 Savage will be featured as operator bundles during the season.
In terms of weapons, Season 5 will bring six new additions. The FR Avancer assault rifle and the Carrack .300 sniper rifle will be included in the free tiers of the battle pass. The M13C assault rifle, a new submachine gun, pistol, and melee weapon will be added later through in-game challenges.
Warzone Updates: New Vehicles and Field Upgrades
Warzone will see the introduction of two new vehicles in Season 5: the MRAP, a large armored vehicle designed for intense battles, and dirt bikes for fast, two-passenger transport. Additionally, new field upgrades will be available, including the Disguise field upgrade to change appearance, Battle Revive for self-reviving with a Battle Rage, and the Self-Revive Box upgrade for extra revives. The Scuba Gas Mask field upgrade will provide protection against radiation and allow players to breathe underwater temporarily.
New Maps and Game Modes
Several new multiplayer maps are coming to Modern Warfare 2 in Season 5. Punta Mar, a new map set in an evacuated tourist attraction in Las Almas, and Strike, a remastered map from the original Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, will be available at launch. Two Gunfight maps, Lounge and Canal, will also be released.
Later in the season, the core map DRC – Zone 1 will be added, inspired by a portion of the Building 21 excursion zone in DMZ.
In terms of game modes, Season 5 will introduce a new roguelike mode called Havoc, which combines classic arena-shooter gameplay with random frenzy-inducing modifiers. Other game modes include variants of Gunfight and a large-scale 20v20 Capture the Flag mode.
Looking Ahead
As Season 5 marks the end of Modern Warfare 2, rumors are already swirling about this year’s upcoming Call of Duty game, including leaks and rumors surrounding Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3.
