In a groundbreaking move, publisher Activision announced that Nicki Minaj will be making her debut as a playable character in Call of Duty: Warzone and Modern Warfare 2. This makes Minaj the franchise’s first “self-named female operator,” breaking the tradition of only featuring fictional women as operators. Joining her in the game’s “50 Years of Hip Hop Celebration” are fellow celebrities Snoop Dogg and 21 Savage, who will also be playable operators in the game.
Minaj’s inclusion in Warzone and Modern Warfare 2 is part of a special event that celebrates the rich history of hip hop. Her appearance as the character “Red Ruby Da Sleeze” pays homage to her latest alter ego from her recent music video, showcasing her versatility as an artist.
The anticipation for Nicki Minaj’s arrival in Call of Duty began last year when a promotional video titled “Squad Up” was released ahead of Modern Warfare 2’s launch. The video featured Minaj alongside other prominent artists, athletes, and actors, sparking speculation and excitement about the possibility of her joining the game.
Snoop Dogg, who has previously appeared in the Call of Duty series as a celebrity voice pack and as an operator in Call of Duty: Vanguard and Warzone, will also be returning in this latest installment. Fans of the rapper will be thrilled to have him as a playable character once again.
Additionally, Season 5 of Call of Duty will unveil this year’s highly anticipated installment of the franchise, possibly titled Call of Duty 2023 or Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, within the Warzone game mode, adding even more excitement to the upcoming release.
