Baldur’s Gate 3 – How to Change Your Character’s Name
Baldur’s Gate 3 allows you to create a memorable hero for your immersive adventure. However, one important detail that you might want to personalize is your character’s name. By default, the game chooses a name for you, but don’t worry, we’ve got you covered with a guide on how to change your name in Baldur’s Gate 3.
How to Change Your Name in Baldur’s Gate 3
While not every hero can have a perfect name, it’s still worth trying to find one that suits your character. In some RPGs, changing your name is as easy as using an item or making a simple request. Baldur’s Gate 3, however, requires a different approach. In order to change your name, you need to take advantage of the character creation options when starting the game.
During the character creation process, you’ll go through various menus where you can customize your character’s origin, race, class, appearance, and more. When you reach the Background tab, which displays your character’s default background (e.g. ‘Entertainer’), click on Edit Appearance to make any desired changes. Once you’re satisfied with your character’s appearance, click Proceed, and a dialog box will appear, allowing you to rename your character.
By default, your character is named ‘Tav’ (or at least, that was my default name). Don’t worry, you have the freedom to change it to a name that aligns better with your vision. The character limit is generous, so feel free to get creative with your choice. After you’ve made the change, click Proceed once again to finalize your selection.
Keep in mind that, as of now, it is not possible to change your character’s name after the initial creation process. However, future updates may introduce this feature. Therefore, make sure you’re happy with your choice before embarking on your adventure. Alternatively, you can always choose a different name when starting a new campaign.
Baldur’s Gate 3 can be found on Steam, ready for you to embark on your epic journey.
