IGN Provides Hands-On Preview of Black Myth: Wukong
In an exclusive preview, IGN shared their hands-on experience with the Black Myth: Wukong demo, diving deep into the combat mechanics and highlighting what makes this game unique in its genre. While the stunning graphics immediately catch the eye, there is much more to appreciate for those interested in Eastern action adventures.
Unlike most Eastern action adventure games, which are often influenced by Japanese mythology, Black Myth: Wukong draws its inspiration from Chinese mythology. Developed by the Game Science team based in Hangzhou, China, this game takes players on an epic journey based on the famous story Journey to the West, featuring mythical creatures, magic, and a captivating Eastern fantasy setting.
The combat in Black Myth: Wukong is more intense and dramatic compared to the Souls games, while still maintaining a similar tone and feel that fans of the genre will appreciate.
The preview footage showcased several of the exciting boss fights in the game, including confrontations with a cunning monkey raider, a fierce tiger warrior, an agile insectoid, and a formidable scorpion hulk. Throughout the footage, the protagonist wields a melee staff weapon, but players can unlock and transform into alternate forms with unique move sets and abilities.
While there is still much to learn about the gameplay of Black Myth: Wukong, fans can expect more information in the coming year as the developers continue their work. Additionally, those eager for more footage can look forward to Gamescom 2023 as a potential opportunity to see more of the game in action.
