How to Leave the Novice Network in FFXIV
In Final Fantasy XIV (FFXIV), there are various chat channels available for players. One of these channels, the Novice Network, is exclusive and invite-only. It’s easy for new players to inadvertently accept an invite and end up feeling stuck in this network. If you find yourself in this situation and want to leave the Novice Network, follow the steps below:
Step 1: Access the Chat Menu
To begin, press Enter in the game to open the chat menu. This will allow you to move your cursor and interact with the chat features.
Step 2: Click on the Leaf Icon
Within the chat menu, locate the leaf icon. Think of “leaf” as “leave” to help you remember its purpose. Click on the leaf icon to reveal additional options.
Step 3: Choose “Leave the Network”
Among the options displayed when you click on the leaf icon, you’ll find an option to “Leave the Network.” Click on this option to exit the Novice Network. Please note that once you leave, you’ll need an invitation from a mentor to rejoin the network.
How to Hide the Novice Network in FFXIV
If you prefer not to leave the Novice Network permanently but want to hide it from view, follow these instructions:
Automatic Method:
The simplest way to hide the Novice Network is by typing “/nnetwork off” in the chat. This method is automatic, but it may not work correctly with certain chat settings.
Manual Method:
Alternatively, you can manually adjust the chat settings to hide the Novice Network:
- Go to the “Settings” menu in FFXIV.
- Select “General Configuration.”
- In the General Configuration menu, locate the “Log Window” setting.
- Click on “Log Filters” or the gear icon in the chatbox.
- Under Log Filters, uncheck the box next to “Novice Network” for each chat window.
These steps ensure that the Novice Network is filtered out from your chat experience. If you change your mind, you can always recheck the box to restore visibility to the Novice Network.
