To Craft Weapons in Destiny 2, Follow These Steps
If you want to craft weapons in Destiny 2, you’ll need to extract weapon patterns found on red-border versions of guns. It may sound simple, but there are a few key points to keep in mind. In this guide, we’ll cover everything you need to know about extracting weapon patterns and obtaining them.
How to Extract Weapon Patterns
There are two methods for extracting weapon patterns in Destiny 2:
- Apply the Deepsight Resonance Mod on the weapon.
- Dismantle the weapon.
To extract a weapon pattern, apply the Deepsight Resonance Mod to your weapon or dismantle the weapon to obtain the pattern. Both methods will give you Weapon Pattern Progress, but it’s recommended to use the Deepsight Resonance Mod to keep your weapon intact.
Using Deepsight Harmonizer
Deepsight Harmonizers are rare items that can be used to speed up Weapon Pattern Progression. If you have a weapon that can be crafted but doesn’t have Deepsoght Resonance, you can use a Deepsight Harmonizer to add Resonance to it. This will allow you to treat the weapon like a red-border weapon and extract the pattern as usual. Remember, you can only extract Weapon Pattern Progress from a single weapon instance once.

How to Get Weapon Patterns in Destiny 2
In order to fully unlock a weapon for crafting, you’ll need to find five weapon patterns for it (with some exceptions). Here are some ways to obtain weapon patterns in Destiny 2:
Raids
The easiest way to get red-border weapons is by completing Raids, especially the Featured Raid of the week. Many Raids have encounters that can be easily farmed, giving you a chance at a red-border Raid weapon. Additionally, some newer Raids have Secret Chests that guarantee a red-border drop.
Seasonal Activities
Each season in Destiny 2 introduces a new Seasonal Activity with new Seasonal loot. These activities have a chance to drop red-border weapons, and Secret Chests also offer guaranteed red-border drops. Keep an eye out for vendors tied to Seasonal activities, as you can turn in Engrams for a chance at red-border weapons.
Currently, Savathun’s Spire and Altars of Summoning are our Seasonal Activities. Give them a try at the Ritual Table in the H.E.L.M. and see if luck is on your side!
By following these methods and participating in activities like Raids and Seasonal Events, you’ll have a better chance of obtaining weapon patterns and crafting your favorite weapons in Destiny 2.
