Dead Space co-creator Glen Schofield founded Striking Distance Studios in 2019
Striking Distance Studios, the subsidiary of Korean publisher Krafton, is seeing a change in leadership as co-creator of Dead Space, Glen Schofield, departs from his role as Chief Executive Officer. According to Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier, Schofield has decided to pursue new opportunities, but the studio’s plans will remain unaffected.
Taking on the position of CEO will be Steve Papoutsis, who currently serves as Chief Development Officer. Schofield expresses his confidence in Papoutsis, stating that while his departure is bittersweet, he believes the studio is in excellent hands.
Last year, The Callisto Protocol, Striking Distance’s debut release, made its way to players on December 1. Although it received mixed reviews from both critics and players, it fell short of Krafton’s sales expectations. This led to layoffs within Striking Distance just last month as Krafton sought to realign the studio’s priorities through strategic changes.
