Xsolla Acquires AcceleratXR to Drive Growth and Innovation in Cross-platform Gaming

The video game commerce company Xsolla has made a strategic acquisition by acquiring AcceleratXR, a leading provider of in-game server backend technology. This acquisition aims to optimize the creation of interactive digital content and support cross-play functionality across various platforms and devices.

AcceleratXR’s technology offers development teams more than 20 specialized systems, including cloud scripting, to create cutting-edge online and multiplayer experiences.

“We are excited to welcome AcceleratXR to the Xsolla game tech family”, said Chris Hewish, CEO of Xsolla. “Their robust game server backend technology is capable of catering to various platforms, from web to PC to console to mobile. This acquisition marks an important milestone in our journey to redefine cross-play technology.”

The acquisition aligns with Xsolla’s strategic focus on providing comprehensive cross-play and cross-pay solutions. As a result, players will be able to maintain their identity across gaming platforms and access their purchase history seamlessly.

Expanding Opportunities in Cross-platform Gaming

The acquisition comes at a time when more developers and game makers are adopting cross-platform development strategies to maximize revenue streams. Notably, developers and publishers traditionally focused on console and PC are now making moves into the mobile gaming market. Capcom, for example, recently announced the porting of Resident Evil 4 Remake and Resident Evil Village to Apple devices.

“We’re thrilled about the acquisition by Xsolla, as it strengthens our mission of making game development tools accessible to all and enhancing social experiences within gaming communities,” said Jean-Philippe Steinmetz, co-founder of AcceleratXR. “This significant step forward presents promising opportunities to reshape the global gaming industry.”

Last month, Xsolla partnered with AppsFlyer to streamline cross-platform insights.
