Developer Black Salt Games has announced a delay in the release of the first paid expansion for fishing horror game Dredge. Originally scheduled for a Q4 release this year, the expansion titled The Iron Rig will now be launched in 2024.
The delay is due to the need for more lead time to coordinate marketing efforts and ensure an exciting launch. Black Salt Games expressed disappointment in having to push back the release but believed it was necessary to deliver the best experience to players.
While The Iron Rig may be delayed, Black Salt Games has assured players that another exciting DLC will be released in 2023. Further details about this content, including availability and cost, will be revealed soon.
In a review earlier this year, Eurogamer contributor Edwin Evans-Thirlwell praised Dredge for its unique combination of fishing and Lovecraftian horror. However, he noted that the game was more successful in its fishing mechanics than in its horror elements.
