Xbox Update Preview for Alpha Insiders

We have an exciting new Xbox Update Preview coming to the Alpha ring! While some of these updates may not bring noticeable changes to the UI, they are focused on improving the quality and stability of Xbox consoles.

• Available: 2 p.m. PT – September 29, 2023
• Mandatory: 3 a.m. PT – September 30, 2023

New Features and Experiences

We are thrilled to announce that Alpha users can expect an exciting addition to their Xbox Update Preview.

Play From Profile

With today’s update, a random subset of users will notice that it’s easier to access, play, and see details about the games others are playing directly from their profiles. We have also reorganized the join and invite commands on these pages.

Fixes Implemented

Thanks to the hard work of Xbox engineers, we are happy to report that the following fixes have been implemented:

Accessibility

• Fixes to address an issue where the Magnifier would not behave as expected in some titles.

Manage Queue

• Fixed an issue where recently installed titles could wrap to a second row unintentionally.

System

• Various updates to properly reflect local languages across the console.
  Note: Users participating in Preview may see “odd” text across the console, for more information go here.

Known Issues

We understand that some issues have been listed in previous Xbox Insider Release Notes. Rest assured, our engineers are actively working to find solutions for these issues, though it may take some time.

Audio

• We have received reports of users experiencing intermittent issues with audio across the dashboard, games, and apps.
  Note: If you experience issues with audio, please submit feedback via Report a Problem immediately and select the category “Console experiences” and “Console Audio Output Issues”. When submitting your report, please provide as much information as possible to help us reproduce and identify the issue.

Keyboard Button Mapping for Xbox Controllers

• If you change your keyboard language settings while the Xbox Accessories app is open, the change will be reflected after quitting the app or rebooting your console.

Manage Queue

• When the queue is empty, the outline around “When games and apps are installing, you’ll see them here” may appear to extend off-screen. We are working on a fix for this issue.

Networking

• We are currently investigating reports of an issue where the console may not connect to the network as expected on boot. If you experience this issue, please report it via Report a Problem as soon as possible.
  Workaround: Wait a minute for the connection to establish. If your console still hasn’t connected, restart your Xbox from the Power Center by holding the Xbox button > Restart console > Restart.

Remember to use Report a Problem to keep us informed of any issues you encounter. Although we may not be able to respond to everyone, the data we gather is crucial in finding resolutions.
