Legendary Lost Sectors are an exciting end-game activity in Destiny 2 that offers generous rewards for solo players. If you’re looking to farm these sectors, you’ll need to know how to unlock them first. Keep reading to find out how!

How to Unlock Legendary Lost Sectors in Destiny 2

To unlock Legendary Lost Sectors, you must first complete the base Lost Sector while exploring the Destination. Make sure your Power Level is at least 1750, as this is the minimum requirement to access Legendary Lost Sectors.

Requirements to Unlock Legendary Lost Sectors:

  • Complete the base Lost Sector at least once on your character
  • Reach a Power Level of 1750 or higher

Lost Sectors will not appear on your map until you have cleared them once. If the Daily Legendary Lost Sector doesn’t show up for you, it’s because you haven’t finished the base version yet. Additionally, if the Legendary Lost Sector still doesn’t appear, it’s likely because your Power Level is too low.

While the minimum Power Level requirement is 1750, it’s recommended to be at least 1800 base Power Level before attempting these challenging Lost Sectors. Once you meet these requirements, you’re ready to start farming Legendary Lost Sectors!

How to Do Legendary Lost Sectors

To begin a Legendary Lost Sector, you need to locate it first. The Legendary Lost Sector changes daily, and you can find it by looking for the Lost Sector icon on your Destinations tab. Unfortunately, you can’t launch Legendary Lost Sectors from Orbit, so you’ll have to head down to the planet and find it manually.

To make navigation easier, you can add a Waypoint to the Legendary Lost Sector by clicking on it in your Map. Keep in mind that Legendary Lost Sectors are as challenging as Nightfalls, so it’s essential to carefully plan your Loadout.

Key Rules for Legendary Lost Sectors:

  • Shielded Foes: Enemies in each Lost Sector can have two types of elemental shields. Bring appropriate weapons or a subclass to deal with these shields.
  • Limited Revives: You have limited revives in Legendary Lost Sectors. Once you run out, you’ll be sent out of the Lost Sector.
  • Champions: Champion enemies will spawn throughout the Lost Sector. Killing them grants you an additional revive, so be sure to take them out.
  • Elemental Threat: Every Lost Sector has a chosen Elemental Threat that deals increased damage to you. Use Damage Resistance Mods that match this element, if possible.
  • Elemental Surge: The chosen Elemental Surge increases your weapon damage if it matches the chosen elemental type. Pick a Primary and Power weapon that align with this element.

In addition to these rules, each Legendary Lost Sector includes unique modifiers that can change the dynamics between you and your enemies. Make sure to check the daily modifiers before entering the Lost Sector by hovering over them when selecting your difficulty.

Loadouts for Legendary Lost Sectors

When choosing your Loadout, consider the Elemental Surge and the Shielded Foes you’ll encounter. It’s recommended to use an Energy Primary weapon to maximize your extra Elemental Surge damage. A Special weapon for dealing with Champions is essential, and Riptide with Chill Clip is a reliable choice.

For your Power Weapon, Machine Guns are highly effective in shredding through enemies’ health bars. Thunderlord is an excellent choice for an Exotic Machine Gun. Using a subclass that matches the Elemental Surge will grant you additional ability damage.

Strand is recommended for tackling Champion enemies, as abilities like Shackle Grenades and Ensnaring Slam make them easy targets. Take your time when soloing these Lost Sectors and focus on defeating every Champion, as they contribute to your end rewards.

Are Legendary Lost Sectors Worth Doing?

Legendary Lost Sectors offer valuable Upgrade materials, including Enhancement Cores and Enhancement Prisms. However, the primary reason to tackle these Lost Sectors is the chance to obtain Exotic gear. When completing a Solo Legendary Lost Sector, there’s a common chance of being rewarded with Exotic armor pieces.

For higher chances of obtaining Exotics, it’s recommended to attempt Lost Sectors on Master difficulty. However, farming on Legend difficulty is faster and still provides a good chance of obtaining Exotics. With the right Loadout, you can potentially clear a Solo Legendary Lost Sector in under 10 minutes, making it a quick and easy method for getting Exotics.

The type of Exotic armor rewarded rotates daily, featuring Head, Arms, Chest, and Legs armor in order. The loot pool includes Exotic armor added in each new Season and Expansion, but not the original Exotic armor pieces. Check your Map to see the daily Exotic reward.
