Glaives in Destiny 2: How to Obtain the Winterbite Exotic Glaive
Glaives have recently been introduced to Destiny 2 with the Witch Queen Expansion, but they haven’t quite lived up to expectations. In this article, we’ll be discussing the Winterbite Exotic Glaive and how you can acquire it for yourself.
How to Get Winterbite in Destiny 2
Once you have completed the Lightfall campaign in Destiny 2, you will unlock several post-campaign missions. One of these missions is the questline for the Winterbite Exotic Glaive. By embarking on this questline, you will not only obtain the Winterbite Glaive but also gain knowledge of the activities on Neomuna and how they operate.
To initiate this questline, head over to the Hall of Heroes and speak with Quinn Laghari. After interacting with various points within the room, speak with Quinn again to commence the Stargazer Quest.
Stargazer Quest
The Stargazer Quest consists of six steps:
- Loot a Terminal Overload reward chest.
- Defeat the Vex Hydra in Esi Terminal.
- Obtain a Terminal Overload key.
- Complete another Terminal Overload and use the key on the bonus chest.
- Interact with the Stargazer Memorial in the Hall of Heroes.
- Speak with Quinn Laghari to complete the quest.
Malestrom Quest
The Malestrom Quest is shorter and comprises four parts:
- Head to the Vex Incursion Zone and complete various activities.
- Complete the Lost Sector within the Vex Incursion Zone.
- Return to the Hall of Heroes and interact with the Maletrom Memorial.
- Speak with Quinn Laghari to complete the quest and unlock the Bluejay Quest.
Bluejay Quest
The Bluejay Quest has five steps, which are slightly more challenging:
- Speak with Nimbus.
- Defeat enemies in the current Vex Inursion Zone while using the Strand subclass, obtaining Shellcode Fragments and completing another Terminal Overload.
- Complete the Partition activity.
- Return to the Hall of Heroes and interact with the Bluejay Memorial.
- Speak with Quinn Laghari to complete the quest and unlock the final Exotic Quest – the Strider Quest.
Strider Exotic Quest
The Strider Exotic Quest is time-gated and consists of seven steps:
- Speak with the Arcavist.
- Loot the Overload Key chest from each of the three different areas of Terminal Overload (each chest is available on a different day).
- Defeat Shadow Legion enemies in Neomuna to collect location data, then complete the Ahisma Park Lost Sector to obtain a Data Cipher.
- Speak with the Arcavist.
- Interact with the Strider Memorial in the Hall of Heroes.
- Find and eliminate Hydras in Maya’s Retreat to destroy the Vex confluxes in the area.
- Speak with the Arcavist once more to claim your Winterbite.
Is Winterbite Worth Getting?
Winterbite is an Exotic Heavy Glaive with unique perks that make it worth acquiring. The Big Frigid Glaive Intrinsic Perk allows you to fire a large ball of Stasis energy, freezing nearby targets. Additionally, the Weighted Edge Perk increases your melee attack damage while slowing enemies hit.
Although the Winterbite Glaive was initially overpowered, it has since been patched and now offers respectable damage without topping any DPS charts. Its freezing capability is effective against Champions, and the bonus melee damage does not consume ammo, making it ideal for close-quarters combat.
While the Winterbite Exotic Glaive isn’t essential to have, it provides a fun and satisfying gameplay experience, particularly when combined with melee-enhancing builds.
Have you witnessed the Winterbite Glaive’s immense power upon its release? What are your thoughts on its current state? Feel free to share your opinions in the comments!
