FIFA fans, get ready for the Nintendo Switch version of EA’s premier soccer series, now known as EA Sports FC 24. While there have been some improvements since last year’s release, the game is still outdated compared to other platforms.
The transition to the Frostbite engine has enhanced the visuals and gameplay, but it’s still not on par with the HyperMotion technology used on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC versions. The action feels slow at 30 frames per second, and the graphics are nowhere near as impressive as the current gaming standards.
In terms of gameplay, EA Sports FC 24 follows the incremental improvements and long-standing AI issues typical of FIFA. There are some new mechanics like Evolutions and Volta mode, but the Career Modes continue to lack attention and suffer from random objectives.
Despite its flaws, EA Sports FC 24 is still a beautiful game, but it’s frustrating to see the missed opportunities for improvement. The Nintendo Switch version lacks the realistic feeling of individual player movements and lacks the next-gen technology features found in other versions.
Glitches, dropped frames, and poor load times plague the game on the Switch. Players appear unnatural in their movements, celebrations are sluggish, and menu loading screens drop frames. Additionally, the online experience is subpar, with issues finding matches in VOLTA and connection problems in Clubs mode.
One positive note is the significant change to Ultimate Team, which now offers the same features as its PC and console counterparts. The addition of Evolutions allows for improvements to player cards, but earning the necessary XP to unlock these upgrades can become tedious.
