Phasmophobia PS5 & PSVR2 Release Date Delayed

Phasmophobia for PS5 and PSVR2 Faces Further Delay Due to Console Development Issues

Kinetic Games, the developer behind the supernatural horror game Phasmophobia, has announced yet another delay for its release on PS5 and PSVR2. The studio has been facing a series of challenges in recent months, including a fire at its offices, which had already pushed back the original release from August to October. However, with less than half of the month remaining, the game will now be delayed indefinitely.

In a statement, Kinetic Games explained, “As we continue to adapt to our new remote working life following the fire incident and while setting up a new office, we have encountered unforeseen difficulties in adapting the game for consoles. These unforeseen challenges, combined with the need to rework certain aspects of the game for the console versions, have resulted in a longer development timeline than initially anticipated.”

The studio also mentioned that they have been working on optimizing the game performance across all maps in preparation for the launch of PlayStation VR2. As part of this optimization process, they had to completely redesign the layout of the Maple Lodge Campsite. While this decision was time-consuming for the art team, it was deemed necessary to ensure the best possible gameplay experience.

Despite the setback, Kinetic Games assured fans that they are committed to minimizing the impact of the delay and expressed gratitude for their continued support. The studio will announce a revised release date as soon as they can.

It is worth noting that Phasmophobia on PS5 and PSVR2 will offer optional cross-play with PC and Xbox Series players, as previously confirmed by Kinetic Games.

Phasmophobia immerses players in a team of four investigating paranormal activity in various locations. The objective is to gather as much evidence as possible using a range of ghost-hunting equipment.
