Scratch the Dog in Baldur’s Gate 3
Scratch the Dog is a beloved companion players can recruit to their party in Baldur’s Gate 3. His friendly demeanor and cute appearance make him an instant favorite among players. However, like any party member, Scratch is not invincible and may fall in battle. So, what happens if Scratch dies in BG3, or is it possible?
You will find Scratch pacing around the bloody corpse of his deceased master. He will be located northwest of the owlbear nest, northeast of the Blighted Village, and south of Risen Road.
Activating the Animal Speaking potion effect before interacting with Scratch is best. Calling him by his name, using a Perception check and being kind to him is important to gain his trust. Tell him you will help, but wait to force him to leave his owner’s side.
Offer some comfort by petting Scratch. Then tell him to follow your scent to camp if his master doesn’t wake up soon. After a long rest or two, Scratch will appear at your camp, seeking your attention.
What Happens if Scratch Dies in Baldur’s Gate 3?
While Scratch has a low armor class of 14 and only 5 hit points at level one, you do not need to worry about him perishing permanently. Even if he is killed during a combat encounter away from camp, you can resummon Scratch later using his ball item.
To avoid danger, it’s best not to put Scratch into combat situations if possible actively. Keep him safe at your camp when not exploring. His health is quite fragile, so protect this boy. But don’t fret too much, as death is not the end for recruitable Scratch in Baldur’s Gate 3.
