Months of speculation about a PS5 version of The Last of Us Part 2 may be coming to an end as the game recently appeared on the PlayStation Network’s backend. Although an official announcement from Sony and Naughty Dog is pending, reports of a native PS5 release have been circulating since July 2023.
The Last of Us 2 composer previously hinted at a PS5 version
Eager fans have been waiting for updates ever since series composer Gustavo Santaolalla mentioned an “improved version” during a Spanish interview. Initially, some thought his comments were misconstrued, but in October, a LinkedIn profile of a Naughty Dog employee referenced “The Last of Us 2: Remastered.”
More fuel was added to the fire earlier this month when Twitter user PlayStation Game Size, known for uncovering unofficial PSN information, found a PS5 entry for The Last of Us 2.
Notably, last month a PS Store ad featured an image of The Last of Us 2 in a PS Plus promotion, sparking speculations about the game’s potential inclusion in PS Plus Extra and Premium. There is also a possibility of Sony offering a PS Plus Premium game trial for the new PS5 version.
With all these hints, an official announcement for The Last of Us Part 2 PS5 is expected to be imminent.
