Blizzard has set a free trial week for Diablo 4, coinciding with the launch of this year’s Steam autumn sale and running from now until 28th November. This trial allows players to experience the world of Sanctuary, and offers full access to co-op and crossplay, with the only limitation being a level cap of 20. It is not clear how much playtime this level cap equates to, especially with the ongoing Mother’s Blessing event that boosts XP and Gold by 35% until November 27th.
It’s worth noting that all progress made during the trial period can be carried over to the full game if players choose to make a purchase. Additionally, all versions of Diablo 4 are currently discounted by 40% as part of the Steam sale, providing further incentive for players to buy the game.
During the Steam sale, the standard edition of Diablo 4 is available for £35.99, down from the usual £59.99. The digital deluxe edition, which includes various cosmetics and a single premium battle pass unlock, is priced at £47.99 instead of £79.99. The Ultimate Edition, similar to the deluxe edition but with an extra emote and an “accelerated” battle pass unlock, is currently discounted to £50.99 from £84.99.
In his review earlier this year, Eurogamer’s Chris Tapsell gave Diablo 4 a positive rating of four out of five stars. “At its high points Diablo 4 feels ridiculous, absurd, operatically over-the-top, a story of comical cosmic nonsense,” he wrote. “At its worst it’s a cage of gilded content, made bespoke to fit its loudest fans and hold them enraptured in their own complaints forever more.”
