Former Red Dead Redemption series writer Michael Unsworth has taken on the role of head of story and creative management at Dan Houser’s Absurd Ventures studio. This announcement comes after Houser’s departure from Rockstar in 2020 and the subsequent unveiling of Absurd Ventures in June.
With its focus on “building narrative worlds, creating characters, and writing stories for a diverse variety of genres” across different mediums, Absurd Ventures is shaping up to be a hub for creative storytelling. These mediums include live-action, animation, video games, books, graphic novels, scripted podcasts, and more.
Unsworth, known for his work on the Red Dead Redemption series and other titles like LA Noire, GTA 4, and GTA 5, officially joined Absurd in October. His arrival at the studio adds to the growing list of talent that has followed Houser in his new venture.
In fact, Unsworth is not the only Rockstar veteran to have joined Absurd Ventures. Lazlow Jones, a former writer and producer at Rockstar, has been with Absurd since June 2021, serving as executive producer. With this impressive lineup, there is undoubtedly a lot of anticipation for Absurd’s upcoming projects.
While details about the studio’s current projects remain scarce, visitors to the Absurd Ventures website can sift through intriguing and enigmatic content that teases what might be in store from this new creative powerhouse.
