Arkane Studios Announces New Game Marvel’s Blade
Arkane Studios made a surprising appearance at The Game Awards, revealing their next game: Marvel’s Blade, much to the excitement of fans anticipating Dishonored 3.
The teaser trailer gave a glimpse of Blade, also known as Eric Brooks, in a barbershop bathed in red light, ending with a silhouette of Blade reaching for his weapon. Marvel’s Blade takes place in a quarantined section of Paris during a supernatural crisis caused by vampires.
Although no release date has been set yet, the studio stated that they are in the early stages of development. Arkane’s co-creative director Dinga Bakaba humorously asked fans to “let us cook,” before sharing his excitement for the project. Blade, being part human and part vampire, can withstand sunlight without disintegrating.
“As a person of mixed heritage, I felt a deep connection to Blade — a hero with a similar background,” Bakaba expressed in a press statement. “The opportunity to bring our own interpretation to this character is a dream come true, and a challenge that our team is tackling with enthusiasm. We’re thrilled to put players in Blade’s shoes as he becomes the savior of my hometown, Paris, one stake at a time.”
Prior to The Game Awards, there was speculation that Dishonored 3 might be revealed, but that turned out not to be the case. This was due to the leak of potential development plans when internal Microsoft documents were revealed during the FTC vs. Microsoft trial. Arkane’s previous game, Redfall, did not meet the expectations of players or the studio.
