MiHoYo has announced that Zenless Zone Zero is set to be released in 2024.
Unveiled during The Game Awards 2023, the free-to-play urban fantasy action RPG will be available on PC and mobile for both Android and Apple devices. However, it has not been officially confirmed whether it will also be released on PlayStation like the studio’s other popular titles Genshin Impact and Honkai: Star Rail.
Similar to the studio’s other games, Zenless Zone Zero will feature an anime art style and party system, but with the addition of sci-fi elements and roguelike gameplay.
The game’s trailer revealed mech-like enemies, bosses equipped with robotic weaponry, and a sprawling city to explore. For a detailed look, watch the full trailer below.
While it is uncertain whether the game will be open-world like Genshin Impact or have limited areas like Honkai: Star Rail, it is confirmed that the game will be set in a post-apocalyptic future within a futuristic metropolis called New Eridu.
New Eridu serves as a bastion of hope against The Ethereal, a group of enemies that have nearly eradicated humanity. As a Proxy, one of the few remaining human survivors, players will attempt to gather The Ethereal’s technology to use against them in the battle for survival.
Prior to the official announcement, the game had conducted closed betas in May 2022 (dubbed as a ‘Tuning Test’) and November of the same year (referred to as an ‘Equalizing Test’). It remains to be seen if there will be additional betas, as well as the specific release date. Stay tuned for more details as we approach the year 2024.
