Dark Souls 2 Servers for PS3 and Xbox 360 to Close in March 2024
The servers for Dark Souls 2 on PS3 and Xbox 360 will be shutting down on March 31, 2024, at 5am PT / 8am ET / 1pm GMT / 2pm CET, marking the end of an era for the game.
A Decade of Gaming Comes to an End
After ten years since its release, the servers for Dark Souls 2, one of From Software’s most controversial games, will be discontinued. This announcement has left many fans feeling nostalgic as they remember their time playing the game.
However, players on PC, PS4, and Xbox One can still look forward to continued support for the game, as the servers for these platforms will remain operational for the foreseeable future. Even after the closure of the PS3 servers, players will still be able to enjoy offline play on the platform.
The developers and publishers of the game expressed their gratitude to the dedicated community, stating, “Thank you to those who have played since launch.”
Dark Souls 2 faced significant pressure as it followed the immense success of its predecessor, Dark Souls. However, the game received mixed reviews from fans, with some feeling that it did not live up to the original. In an attempt to address some of the criticisms, From Software released Dark Souls 2: Scholar of the First Sin in 2015, bringing various changes to the game.
While the chapter of Dark Souls 2 may be coming to a close, From Software is not slowing down, with their upcoming project Elden Ring expansion Shadow of the Erdtree, rumored to be released in February 2024, generating excitement among fans and the gaming community.
