The latest update for the popular puzzle game Suika Game is now available on the Nintendo Switch. This update brings a festive background theme and a new tune for players to enjoy as they match and merge fruits.
Suika Game, also known as Watermelon Game, challenges players to drop various fruits (each with its own adorable face) into a box in order to earn points. Matching fruits causes them to combine into a larger fruit, with the ultimate goal being to create the largest watermelon possible. However, if the box overflows, the game ends. Developed by Aladdin X, Suika Game gained immense popularity after videos of it went viral on the social media platform TikTok.
The 1.0.7 update doesn’t change the core gameplay, but it does introduce a new option to the main menu, allowing players to switch between the regular mode and a holiday-themed mode. In the holiday mode, the background changes to a festive scene with Christmas trees and holiday decorations, and even the watermelons are dressed up for the occasion.
Furthermore, when playing with the festive theme, a soothing rendition of We Wish You A Merry Christmas can be heard in the background. This is a welcome addition for players who may have grown weary of the game’s original music, which consists of a single looping track.
It’s unclear whether the holiday theme will be a permanent addition. Previously, a Halloween-themed update was released in October, featuring similar changes to the background and music, including transforming the watermelons into pumpkins. However, this theme was later removed in a subsequent update.
