Sony and Insomniac address Wolverine PS5 leaks and impact of cyber attack
Insomniac Games has confirmed that the recent Wolverine PS5 leaks will not hinder the development of the much-anticipated game. The studio was the target of a ransomware attack, resulting in the theft of company data as well as personal information of employees. Despite this setback, Insomniac remains determined to push forward with their work on the game.
In a statement released on Twitter just before the holidays, Insomniac expressed gratitude for the overwhelming support received during this challenging time. The studio also acknowledged the emotional strain caused by the ransomware attack, emphasizing the need for internal support within the team. Additionally, Insomniac decried the theft of data, which not only affected current employees but also former staff and contractors.
“The recent criminal cyber attack on our studio has had a profound emotional impact on our development team,” part of the statement reads. Insomniac went on to address the leaked details of Marvel’s Wolverine in the statement, stating, “Marvel’s Wolverine continues as planned, just like Logan, Insomniac is resilient.”
Insomniac has clarified that Marvel’s Wolverine is still in its early stages of production, dispelling any speculation about a potential late 2024 release date. The studio, in collaboration with Sony, is actively investigating the leaks and assessing the overall impact of the cyber attack on the development of the game.
