XboxEra’s Nick Baker recently sparked rumors of a potential remaster of the original God of War trilogy. Speaking on “The 4th Annual Grubbsmas Shpeshaltacular,” Baker expressed his desire for a return to the hack-and-slash style of the original games and suggested that a remaster might be in the works.
According to Baker, the remaster appears to be a possibility, but no concrete details have emerged yet. He admitted that he couldn’t confirm a release timeline or the extent of the remaster but emphasized his excitement at the prospect.
“I told a friend of mine who also loves the OG God of War trilogy that this might be happening, then they got very excited. And I’ve heard that we might be getting the original God of War trilogy remastered on PlayStation,” Baker said.
As for the specific details of the remaster, Baker expressed uncertainty about whether it would be a straightforward port of the original PS3 versions, which he admitted would dampen his excitement. He also cast doubt on the inclusion of God of War Ascension in the remaster.
While these rumors are certainly intriguing for fans of the iconic franchise, it’s important to treat them with caution until an official announcement is made. Nevertheless, the possibility of revisiting the classic God of War games in a remastered format is an exciting prospect for many fans.
The original God of War will celebrate its twentieth anniversary in 2025. God of War 2 and 3 were released in 2007 and 2010 respectively. Additionally, Cliff Bleszinski, the creator of the Gears of War series, has expressed interest in seeing the series receive a God of War-style reboot. All in all, it’s an exciting time for the franchise, with potentially promising developments on the horizon.
