Steam Breaks Its Own Record with Over 33 Million Concurrent Users
Over the weekend, Steam reached a new milestone with a staggering 33,675,229 concurrent users online, with 10.6 million actively playing a game at the time the record was set.
Unsurprisingly, CS:GO and Dota 2 led the most-played charts, with a 24-hour peak of 1.2 million and 730K players respectively. The top five most-played games were completed by PUBG, Apex Legends, and Baldur’s Gate 3.
The lower end of the top ten included Naraka: Bladepoint, Grand Theft Auto 5, Lethal Company, and Rust. Interestingly, 208,000 people were in Source SDK Base 2007, indicating that they were likely playing a game mod that uses it, rather than a standalone game.
This record-breaking feat comes a year after the in-game user count first breached 10 million, suggesting that many players are taking advantage of their post-Christmas weekends to dive into the PC games they received as gifts.
The previous record, set back in March 2023, was 33,598,520 concurrent users, showcasing the consistent growth of the platform.
