Visions of Mana gameplay had a surprise showcase during the Xbox Developer Direct today, revealing new aerial combat and other exciting features for the upcoming title on PS5 and PS4. In addition to showing off some of the game’s enemies, players also got a first look at a new companion and an introduction to the game’s soundtrack.
Discover New and Familiar Enemies in Visions of Mana
Players familiar with the Mana series will recognize some classic enemies in the new gameplay footage, including the Rabite, Mushboom, Goblin, and Chobin Hoodlum. However, these enemies come with new abilities and players are encouraged to pay attention to their behavior and expressions during battles.
One of the exciting additions to the game is the introduction of aerial combat, allowing players to engage in physical and magic attacks while in mid-air. Square Enix also confirmed the return of Elementals, providing specialized items that offer unique effects in battle, allowing for further customization of play styles.
Another highlight from the showcase was the introduction of a new companion known as a Pikul. This unique creature, resembling a cross between a Yorkshire Terrier, a pangolin, and Anubis from Egyptian mythology, will serve as a means of transportation for players to swiftly traverse the game’s map.
Furthermore, players got a glimpse of the game’s soundtrack, featuring 100 songs from renowned creators who have previously worked on Mana franchise games, including Hiroki Kikuta, Tsuyoshi Sekito, and Ryo Yamazaki. The adaptive music system promises a dynamic experience, seamlessly transitioning between exploration and battle sequences.
Set to release this summer, Visions of Mana marks the first new game in the Mana series in 15 years, and will be available on PS5, PS4, and PC. The game will also be the first in the Mana series to be available on Xbox consoles.
