Palworld has made its debut on the Xbox Series X|S this week, offering the same thrilling adventures available on Steam. However, there are some differences between the two versions. Let’s take a closer look to see if Palworld provides dedicated servers on Xbox Series X|S.
Are There Dedicated Servers for Palworld on Xbox Series X|S?
While the new survival adventure game offers a multiplayer function on Xbox Series X|S, the setup is not identical to the one found on Steam. Players can invite friends to join them, allowing up to four players to survive, fight, and collect Pals together. However, there is a significant difference – Xbox does not currently support dedicated servers, and there are no plans to implement them in the near future.
There is some good news, though – Palworld does support cross-platform play between PC and Xbox Game Pass. Unfortunately, the Xbox version only offers co-op mode, as opposed to dedicated servers which would accommodate a larger number of players. On Steam, players can join a server with up to 31 other players, but on the Xbox Series X|S, only four players are permitted to join at any given time.
Bucky, a Palworld Community Manager, explained the situation to players on Discord:
“Xbox only supports co-op mode. Xbox and Xbox PC can crossplay together though. We’d like to have dedicated servers on Xbox but unfortunately, it’s not up to us and is quite difficult to negotiate at this time! But… We are trying!”
While there is hope for dedicated servers to be available on the Xbox Series X|S for Palworld in the future, for now, players will have to make do with the existing co-op mode.
If you are eager to join or host a dedicated server, the only option for now is to purchase the Steam version.
