During the most recent Xbox Developer Direct, Oxide Games unveiled a deep dive into their upcoming strategy game, Ara: History Untold. Set to be released in the fall of this year, Ara: History Untold was first announced in 2022.

Oxide Games emphasized the game’s “living world,” which features a procedurally generated map that allows players to shape their own society within the game. The environment will evolve based on the decisions made by the players. For those interested, the presentation can be viewed starting at the 25:00 minute mark.

The game’s Prestige System is designed to challenge players to build a nation superior to their opponents’. Players will earn points based on the type of leader they aspire to be. For instance, they can construct “Triumphs,” which are famous historical buildings that provide significant Prestige bonuses. This was discussed in detail during today’s live stream.

Oxide Games, based in Maryland and established in 2013 by former Firaxis developers, has previously developed games such as 2016’s Ashes of the Singularity and Star Swarm.

While Ara: History Untold is set to launch on PC and PC Game Pass later this year, Oxide plans to maintain its “Insider Program” even after the release, allowing for the incorporation of player feedback.
