Sony is making a move to offer a refund to players who accidentally bought The Last of Us 2 Remastered despite already owning the original release on the PS4. This refund is in response to the confusion surrounding the $10 upgrade path, and has been met with praise from players.
Players Express Gratitude for Sony’s Proactive Refund for The Last of Us 2 Remastered
The pre-emptive action taken by Sony has been commended by players, as the process of upgrades can often be perplexing. According to a message from Sony shared on social media by multiple users, “As an owner of the PS4 digital version of The Last of Us Part II, a digital upgrade to the PS5 digital version will be available at a deeply discounted price on launch day 19/1/24. We don’t want you to lose out on that opportunity so, as a gesture of good will, we have refunded your purchase for the pre-order of the PS5 version of The Last of Us Part II Remastered so that you may purchase the digital upgrade on launch day.”
Furthermore, Sony has assured players who received refunds that they will still retain their pre-order bonuses that were included in their original purchase. However, the entire amount will be refunded through the same method that players utilized to buy TLOU2 Remastered.
