Breeding in Palworld: A Deep Dive into the Paldeck
Exploring the Palpagos Islands in Palworld can lead players to discover a wide range of cute and capable Pals. However, to fully complete their Paldeck, players will need to explore the world of breeding. Breeding in Palworld is a surprisingly intricate aspect of the game that has captivated many players, including my group on our shared server.
Beyond the initial appeal of a “survival game meets Pokémon” concept, Palworld has managed to keep players engaged. On my server, each of my friends and I have taken on different roles, working together to maximize our efficiency. While I focus on carrying weight and hauling, my friends handle scouting and managing resources, including our breeding camp.
At our breeding camp, known as Pal Resources, we have delved deep into the process of breeding. While it is possible to casually explore breeding, we have become fully engrossed in the experience. Breeding serves three main purposes: expanding the Paldeck by creating new Pals from seemingly unrelated ones, perfecting existing Pals, and creating new elemental types of Pals.
Breeding for Perfection
The process of creating new Pals through breeding is undeniably fascinating, but our real focus has been on improving our existing roster. For example, through Pal Resources, we were able to create an electric variant of the Relaxaurus, adding valuable functionality to our infrastructure through breeding.
Breeding not only offers utility but also adds variety to our collection of Pals. Why settle for one Kingpaca when we can have two, one of which is an Ice type? The possibilities are endless.
Passing Down Traits
Through experimentation, we discovered that breeding two of the same Pals together allows their traits to pass down to their offspring. This has proven to be a powerful incentive to continue breeding, although it doesn’t always produce the desired results. However, when successful, it results in multiple generations of Pals with specific traits, ready to tend to our every need.
Our bases are now staffed by a lineage of Pals, bred for specific tasks and abilities, ensuring that our operations run smoothly. From completing work orders in seconds to providing a constant supply of food, our bred Pals have become an essential part of our success in Palworld.
A Full Game Experience
What started as a side aspect of the game has turned into a full-fledged experience, reminiscent of the Chao Gardens from Sonic Adventure 2. Breeding, baking cakes, and nurturing our Pals has become a game within the game, as we work to build our empire on the Palpagos Islands. As for the Pals that don’t meet our needs, rest assured they have ample space to run and play, definitely not being repurposed for other uses. It’s all part of the game!
