Building Relationships in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth
In Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, building relationships with party members is key to unlocking romantic options and special moments in the game. While there isn’t a traditional romance system, the Gold Saucer date has been expanded to allow for more meaningful interactions with your companions. Throughout the game, you’ll have the opportunity to deepen your bonds through various actions and dialogue choices.
How to Foster Romance in FF7 Rebirth
To cultivate a romance with a character in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, you must focus on raising their relationship level above the rest of your party members before the Gold Saucer date. Checking your relationship levels is easy – simply press the L1 button outside of combat to see where you stand with each party member. As your bonds strengthen, you’ll notice the smiley face icon filling up and changing colors to indicate your progress.
If you want to pursue a romantic connection, it is essential to prioritize one character and ensure their relationship level surpasses all others. While maxing out the level is not mandatory, it will influence the outcome of the date, determining whether it is a standard or intimate experience.
Exploring Romance Options in FF7 Rebirth
There are five potential romance options in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth:
- Aerith
- Tifa
- Red XIII
- Barret
- Cait Sith, Cid, and Vincent
The Skywheel date in Chapter 12 is reserved for Aerith, Tifa, Red XIII, and Barret, provided that your relationship level with them is high enough. If you haven’t nurtured a strong bond with any of these characters, you’ll be treated to a humorous scene involving Cait Sith, Cid, and Vincent accompanying Cloud instead.
It’s important to note that Yuffie is not a romanceable party member in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth. While you can interact with her during the party’s initial visit to the Gold Saucer in Chapter 8, she is not an option for the Skywheel date in Chapter 12.
Timing the Gold Saucer Date
The Gold Saucer date occurs at the end of Chapter 12 when the party revisits the location. Before the date commences, the game will provide a warning, giving you a chance to return to the open world and strengthen your relationships. This preparation is crucial for achieving the desired outcome at the Gold Saucer.
Additionally, the party’s initial visit to the Gold Saucer in Chapter 8 will be influenced by your relationships. Depending on your closeness with Aerith, Tifa, or Yuffie, one of them (or none at all) will accompany you as you explore the various minigames. While decisions made in Chapter 8 impact the story, the Skywheel date itself does not occur until Chapter 12, allowing for adjustments if needed.
