Toys for Bob Goes Independent and Explores Partnership with Microsoft
Toys for Bob, known for popular games like Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy, Spyro Reignited Trilogy, and Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time, has announced its decision to split from Activision Blizzard and operate as an independent studio. The studio also revealed that it is in talks with Microsoft for a potential partnership.
Toys for Bob’s Statement
“We’re thrilled to announce that Toys for Bob is spinning off as an independent game development studio. Throughout the years, we have brought joy to gamers and pushed boundaries with our games. Now, we feel it’s time to elevate our studio and future projects to new heights. This opportunity allows us to embrace our origins as a small, agile studio,” stated Toys for Bob.
The studio expressed excitement about the partnership with Microsoft as they venture into developing new games, characters, and gameplay experiences. While they are still in the early stages of creating their next project, Toys for Bob assured their community that updates will be shared soon.
No financial details regarding Toys for Bob’s split from Activision Blizzard were disclosed. This move comes shortly after Microsoft’s acquisition of Activision Blizzard for $69 billion. In addition to Toys for Bob, Saber Interactive and Gearbox are also parting ways with their respective parent companies.
