Arrowhead Games Launches Major Patch in Helldivers 2
Arrowhead Games recently released a new patch for Helldivers 2, bringing a mix of bug fixes, user experience enhancements, and balance changes that have sparked discussions within the Helldivers 2 community. This patch marks the first time certain weapons and Stratagems have received nerfs, while underpowered weapons have been buffed. Additionally, a new threat has been added to the game that will impact players and their squads. The patch also addresses highly anticipated mechanics and fixes various game-breaking and minor bugs.
Weapon and Stratagem Changes
The famous automatic shotgun, the Breaker, has seen a decrease in magazine size from 16 to 13 rounds and an increase in recoil value from 30 to 55. This change emphasizes the weapon’s concept of delivering heavy damage with intermittent periods of reloading.
The Railgun Stratagem has been nerfed in terms of armor penetration against heavy and medium armored targets, while maintaining its unique functionality when toggling Unsafe Mode. The Shield Generator Backpack also received a nerf, extending the recharge time for the shield after it breaks.
On the other hand, Arrowhead Games has provided significant buffs to previously underpowered weapons such as the Punisher shotgun, Flamethrower, Breaker Spray ‘n Pray, and Laser Cannon to improve their overall performance.
Armor Value Fixes
The patch addressed a bug in the armor system where medium to heavy armor did not provide any damage mitigation to the wearer. Now, damage mitigation is working as intended, allowing players to experiment with different armor values.
Eradication Mission Changes
Previously, the kill quota for the Eradication mission was capped at 250 kills on the hardest difficulty. To increase the mission’s difficulty and duration, Arrowhead Games doubled all kill quotas and made spawns more frequent in this mission.
New Environmental Hazards
The patch introduced new environmental hazards on certain planets, adding a layer of challenge to the game. Fire tornadoes, meteor showers, and ion storms are among the randomized hazards that players may encounter, posing additional challenges during gameplay.
The New Meta
With the latest changes, players are exploring new strategies and weapons to adapt to the shifting meta of the game. Weapons like the Autocannon, Flamethrower, and Arc Thrower are gaining popularity for their effectiveness in different scenarios. Additionally, classic anti-armor weapons like the Recoilless Rifle and Anti-Tank Launchers are making a comeback.
Known Issues
While the patch brings numerous improvements, Arrowhead Games is actively addressing new bugs to ensure a stable player experience. From random disconnects to UI issues, the team is working to resolve issues such as crashes in combat, unjoinable lobbies, and malfunctioning evacs in Defense missions.
