How to Successfully Complete the Beginner Exam in Genshin Impact Alchemical Ascension
As you progress into Phase 2 of the Genshin Impact Alchemical Ascension event, you’ll encounter the challenge of passing the Alchemy Exams. These exams have specific objectives that you must achieve in order to earn additional funds for your potion shop.
During Cycles 11-13, Sucrose will pay a visit to your potion shop and present you with the opportunity to take the Beginner Alchemy Exam. This exam is different from the usual potion-making tasks based on customer demands. To successfully pass this exam, you must fulfill a main objective, as well as optional objectives that you should strive to meet:
| Main Objective | Concoct a potion of Intermediate or higher grade with efficacies including Constitution. |
| Optional Objectives | – Potion grade reaches Intermediate and potion level reaches +5. – Potion displays at least 1 characteristic. – Use no more than 3 different types of ingredients. |
If you aim to earn all the monetary rewards and excel in this Beginner Exam, you must create an Intermediate Constitution Potion using the specified ingredients and layout as shown above:
- x4 Special Sweet Flower (Constitution/Strengthening)
- x3 Special Calla Lily (Constitution/Steadying)
- x2 Special Mushroom (Balanced/Endurance)
By utilizing this strategy, you should be able to stack up to two slots and achieve a Tuning Rate of 225%, allowing you to meet all objectives and receive a total of 25,000 shop funds.
During Cycles 14-16, Sucrose will return to task you with the Intermediate Alchemy Exam. This round of objectives is more challenging, but by following my method precisely, you’ll be able to successfully complete them all. Here are the objectives Sucrose is looking for you to achieve:

| Optional Objectives | – Potion grade reaches Intermediate and potion level reaches +8. – Potion displays at least 2 characteristics. – No more than 10 ingredients used. |
By replicating the same setup and using the listed ingredients below, I was able to fulfill the main and optional objectives by creating an Intermediate Strength and Dexterity Potion:
- x6 Special Horsetail (Dexterity/Endurance)
- x2 Special Mist Flower (Strength/Steadying)
- x2 Special Mushroom (Balanced/Endurance)
By restricting the ingredient count to a maximum of 10 and achieving a potion level of 9, you can earn all the rewards totaling to 50,000 shop funds following my method.
As a reminder, Phase 3 of the Alchemical Ascension event in Genshin Impact is currently unavailable. Once it is released, we will provide guidance on how to conquer all Alchemy Exams. In addition to Sucrose’s exams, you will be required to fulfill special orders for unique customers throughout the Alchemical Ascension event.
