The highly anticipated mobile game Assassin’s Creed Jade may not see the light of day until 2025, as per a recent report from Reuters. Sources within Tencent-owned Level Infinite revealed that the game, which has been in development for at least four years, was initially slated for release this year but has been pushed back to 2025.
In a strategic shift, Level Infinite, in partnership with Ubisoft, has decided to delay the release of Assassin’s Creed Jade amidst a transition towards developing more casual party games rather than large-scale open-world adventures.
One of their recent projects, DreamStar, has garnered attention for its unique gameplay that combines elements from Fall Guys and massively multiplayer online (MMO) mechanics. By focusing on original properties like DreamStar, Level Infinite can avoid the high royalty fees associated with mobile games based on existing franchises.
Set in Ancient China, Assassin’s Creed Jade introduces Xia as the new protagonist on a mission to protect their homeland from a group of menacing raiders. The game promises a blend of live-service design elements along with classic Assassin’s Creed features, including a sprawling open world and dynamic melee combat featuring unique Chinese weaponry like spears and double swords.
Although a closed beta for the game was conducted in August 2023 with limited access, a gameplay trailer that was released showcased breathtaking visuals that exceeded expectations for a mobile game. The trailer highlighted lush forests, intricate Chinese architecture, and fast-paced action that fans of the franchise can look forward to once the game is released.
While Assassin’s Creed Jade is exclusively being developed for mobile platforms, the recent PC and console title Assassin’s Creed Mirage has made its way to the iPhone 15 Pro, offering players a chance to experience the acclaimed franchise on the go.
