Dragon’s Dogma 2 Weapons and Armor: Purchase and Enhance or Discover?
In my extensive playthrough of Dragon’s Dogma 2, I have discovered whether it is more beneficial to buy and enhance weapons and armor at the beginning of the game or to search for them while exploring.
From my experience, it is quite rare to find weapons and armor that align with your Vocation while exploring in Dragon’s Dogma 2. In fact, the majority of weapons and armor you come across are items that are available for purchase at various shops in the game.
My recommendation would be to buy weapons and armor at the onset of the game and make some enhancements to them. While you will undoubtedly acquire better gear as you progress, it is wise not to exhaust all your resources on enhancing gear that you will soon replace. Therefore, investing in solid weapons and armor early on is advisable. I suggest visiting the blacksmith and swordsmith in Vernworth for this purpose.
There are some advantages to finding weapons and armor in Dragon’s Dogma 2, such as not having to spend Gold on them, discovering items that surpass what the current shops offer, and stumbling upon rare gear that is not available in stores.
For those players who prefer the thrill of discovering their equipment, I recommend searching for and looting caves. Caves often hide valuable weapons and armor pieces and are always worth exploring. Each cave in Dragon’s Dogma 2 is unique, adding an element of surprise to your treasure hunt. If you are seeking exceptional gear in caves, I suggest beginning with the cave featured in the Warrior and Sorcerer quest.
