Developing Spyro 4: What We Know So Far
Exciting news for Spyro fans – a new entry in the beloved series is reportedly in the works with Toys for Bob at the helm.
A well-known insider, Canadian Guy Eh, shared in a recent video that multiple sources at PAX East have confirmed that Toys for Bob is currently developing a new Spyro title. According to Canadian Guy Eh, “Spyro 4 is in development. That’s a statement. No theory crafting, no evidence-based assumptions, no conspiracies, or even a heavy-handed hint.”
Further reinforcing this claim, Canadian Guy Eh mentioned that as of March 2024, Spyro 4 is indeed in development, with the project kicking off in January. This indicates that the game is still in its early stages of production.
This news follows reports that Toys for Bob had recently struck a deal with Microsoft for its first independent game. While Spyro was not explicitly mentioned, sources hinted that the upcoming project could align with the studio’s previous work.
January saw Toys for Bob announce its decision to break away from Activision and return to operating as an independent entity. The studio expressed its excitement about potential collaborations with Microsoft as it delves into the development of its new game, prompting speculation about a connection to Spyro 4.
Eurogamer has reached out to both Microsoft and Toys for Bob for additional comments on this exciting development.
