Ori Developer Teases Possibility of a Third Entry in the Series
Moon Studios, the developer behind the popular Ori series, has sparked excitement among fans with hints of a potential third entry. In a recent interview with Game Informer, studio co-founder Gennadiy Korol expressed satisfaction with where the story currently stands after the release of Ori and the Will of the Wisps.
Korol stated, “I think we were able to complete the story of Ori. It’s a complete arc now; if you play both games, it’s a complete story. So it felt like the only way we would come back to Ori 3 is if we have more to say, more story to tell.”
However, despite Korol’s comments, the studio’s creative director Thomas Mahler hinted at the possibility of a third Ori game by revealing that he already has a title in mind. “I have some ideas,” teased Mahler, catching Korol by surprise as he admitted he was unaware that the idea was even being considered.
For now, these Ori ideas remain in the early stages of development as Moon Studios focuses on their upcoming release, the dark action-RPG, “No Rest for the Wicked.” Scheduled to launch on Steam early access on April 18th, fans can get a glimpse of the game in action in the video above.
If you have not yet experienced the magic of the Ori games, now might be the perfect time to dive in. Critics have praised the series for its stunning visuals and engaging gameplay. In our 2015 review of Ori and the Blind Forest, we described it as a “stunningly presented explorative platformer that favors reliably familiar ideas over innovation.” Meanwhile, Eurogamer’s review of Ori and the Will of the Wisps hailed it as “one of the best things you play all year” in 2020.
