Helldivers 2’s new Major Orders focus on battling mutated Terminids

Helldivers 2 Update: The Return of the Terminid Threat

I regret to inform you that, despite the best efforts of Helldivers everywhere, the Terminid threat is back and nastier than ever. Super Earth command seems to be struggling with the ongoing war, but I won’t dwell on such thoughts.

Helldivers 2 continues to unfold a gripping narrative through its Order system. Each time I log in, I am presented with a mix of missions. The Personal Order usually involves simple tasks like eliminating Chargers or securing valuable samples. On the other hand, the Major Orders span over several days and require collaboration from all players. For example, a recent Major Order tasked us with activating a chemical called Termicide on Terminid planets in hopes of solving the bug problem.

In recent weeks, the focus has shifted to combating Automatons. The majority of Major Orders have revolved around dealing with these relentless bots, with only a few exceptions. We fought hard to eradicate the Automatons, even temporarily clearing them from the galactic map before they returned stronger than ever. The latest Major Order challenged us to defend against both Automaton factions, a task we barely managed to accomplish.

Now, Super Earth has issued new orders revealing that the Termicide strategy may have backfired. Stalkers have evolved to be completely invisible, posing a new challenge for players. The broadcast from Super Earth warns, “The Terminid control system has failed. Meridia has turned into a supercolony. Termicide may be causing faster reproduction. The TCS must be deactivated immediately.”

A new mission type called Deactivate requires players to clear out the nests formed around Terminid Control System towers. As Terminids continue to evolve, players anticipate facing even more dangerous adversaries after the Automaton crisis.

Arrowhead Games has successfully blended humor with engaging objectives in Helldivers 2. As I prepare to tackle these new challenges, I can’t help but fear what new threats the Terminids may unleash upon us.
