The MSI Claw Update Improves Gaming Performance and Optimization
The MSI Claw has faced criticism since its launch for inconsistent gaming performance and poor optimization. However, a recent update brings good news for handheld gamers.
MSI has released new GPU and BIOS driver updates – the E1T41IMS.106 BIOS (106) and 31.0.101.5445 GPU driver (5445) – which have reportedly increased performance by up to 150%. The update aims to address performance issues, allowing players to enjoy a smoother gaming experience with the top 100 popular games on the Steam platform.
MSI has acknowledged the optimization issues related to the CPU and has worked with Intel to enhance stability. Users can now update directly from the Windows environment without the need for a USB drive or system dock.
You can download the latest BIOS from the MSI official website and the newest GPU drivers from the Intel ARC official website.
Is it too little too late?
Despite the positive updates and ongoing support, users are receiving them over a month after the MSI Claw’s official release. In comparison, other gaming portables like the Steam Deck and Lenovo Legion Go offer solid performance right out of the box, with the Steam Deck setting a high standard.
The high price of the MSI Claw raises concerns about its initial launch state and the need for continuous patching to meet the standard set by older and less powerful portables like the Steam Deck.
While MSI and Intel are collaborating to address the issues, it remains unclear whether the root cause lies with Intel’s processors or MSI-specific issues. The upcoming launch of the Intel-equipped AOKZOE A2 Ultra may provide more insights into the problem.
Hopefully, MSI will take this experience as a learning opportunity for future releases like a potential Claw 2, ensuring that the OS and overall performance meet expectations before launch.
