Stellar Blade director says there are no plans for DLC just yet, but Shift Up is currently working on a Boss Challenge mode

Stellar Blade is set to introduce a Boss Challenge mode in an upcoming update, as confirmed by game director Hyung-Tae Kim in a recent interview with Korean outlet Nate (via GamesRadar). While there are no plans for downloadable content (DLC) at the moment, the development team is focusing on implementing the Boss Challenge mode.

This new mode is a common feature in action role-playing games like Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, where players face a series of challenging boss fights consecutively in a boss rush mode. This addition to Stellar Blade could enhance the gameplay experience, especially considering the game’s impressive roster of boss battles.

Upon release, Stellar Blade already included a New Game Plus option and unlockable outfits for the protagonist EVE in the day one patch. While specifics about future updates remain unclear, Kim hinted that the Boss Challenge mode could be the next major update for the game.

In response to feedback, the day one patch also addressed concerns about in-game art that inadvertently referenced a racial slur. Shift Up and Sony swiftly addressed the issue, clarifying that it was unintentional and not reflective of their intentions.

Exclusive to PlayStation 5, Stellar Blade has earned high praise from critics. TechRadar Gaming’s Rhys Wood gave the game a stellar review, highlighting its exceptional combat mechanics, breathtaking visuals, and outstanding soundtrack.
