Getting Around Vardoran: Your Guide to Horses in V Rising
Traveling around Vardoran can be a bit of a challenge, especially when you have a lot of goods to transport. While teleporters can be useful for quick travel before farming, there are times when you’ll need to find other means of transportation. In V Rising, horses are the primary mode of getting around the map, with various stats that affect their speed. If you’re aiming to turn a horse into your Vampire Steed, knowing the max stats can help you choose the right one to dominate.
Where Can You Find Horses in V Rising?
As soon as you enter the Dunley Farmland region in V Rising, horses become available for you to ride. Most of them can be located in this region, but you can also find some in specific spots in the Silverlight Hills. Here are the typical locations where you can find and hitch a ride on a horse:
- Army Outposts
- Cotton Farms
- Militia Camp
- Dawnbreak Village
- Mosswick Village
- Dunley Lumber Mill
- Horse Track
- Bastion of Dunley
You can mount horses at any time without needing a spell or action to make them friendly towards you. However, regular mounts require care and regular watering, or they will deteriorate and die. On the other hand, using Dominate a Mount allows you to turn a horse into your Vampire Steed, which doesn’t require any maintenance to stay alive. If you intend to keep a permanent horse, it’s crucial to choose ones with good stats.
What are the Best Stats for V Rising Horses?
In V Rising, horses have three attributes that determine their quality, each with randomized values. Here are the stats for the horses and their minimum and maximum values:
Attribute | Min Value | Max Value |
Max Speed | 8.0 | 11.0 |
Acceleration | 3.0 | 7.0 |
Rotation Speed | 12.0 | 14.0 |
It’s ideal to aim for horses with the maximum value in each stat, but finding one with all three maxed out is rare. Focus on Max Speed and Acceleration first, as they determine how quickly you can travel. If you frequently get knocked off your steed, Rotation Speed becomes crucial for maneuvering out of danger.
The best range for Max Speed is 10.0 to 11.0, for Acceleration it’s 5.0 to 7.0, and for Rotation Speed, values between 12.0 and 14.0 are suitable. Experimenting with these stats will make your travels across Vardoran smoother.
Raising the Horse’s Stats in V Rising
Newer players might not know that you can increase the value of the first two stats by one, exceeding the maximum number. To do this, you’ll need the Vampire Horse Saddle, unlockable after subduing a Steed and reaching Castle Heart Level 4 for the Dominate Horse ability.
Complete the “Nightfall Steed” task by subduing your first Horse to unlock the Vampire Horse Saddle, which can be crafted at the leatherworking station with the following materials:
- Vampire Horse Saddle
- 8 Thick Leather
- 4 Iron Ingot
Subduing Horses also grants them abilities. Vampire Horses, unlike regular ones, can jump, aiding in obstacle traversal and projectile avoidance. They can be resurrected and summoned to you anywhere, making it essential to choose horses with the best stats for your loyal, fast, and reliable ethereal companion.
