Atari Revives Classic ‘Sprint’ Series with NeoSprint for Nintendo Switch
Atari has unveiled its latest offering, NeoSprint, marking the return of the beloved ‘Sprint’ series after decades. Set to hit the Switch eShop on June 27, 2024, this installment brings a fresh take on the classic formula first introduced in Championship Sprint back in 1987 (or technically Badlands in 1989).
The trailer showcases modernized visuals and an updated isometric perspective for the gameplay. Players can unleash their creativity by designing and customizing tracks in four distinct biomes: forest, desert, winter, and city, complete with ramps, jumps, and decorative elements.
Whether you prefer solo races against AI opponents or multiplayer mayhem with family and friends, NeoSprint has you covered. In addition to the main Campaign Mode, players can look forward to engaging in modes like Obstacle Courses and Time Trials for added challenges.
Headless Chicken Games, the developer behind NeoSprint, brings experience from renowned titles like Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl, G.I. Joe: Operation Blackout, and Bramble: The Mountain King to ensure a quality gaming experience.
Furthermore, Atari has teased Yars Rising, a new Metroidvania game inspired by the classic Yars’ Revenge from the Atari 2600 era. Developed by WayForward Technologies, this title is expected to launch later this year, although an exact release date is yet to be revealed.
