New Level Caps in Destiny 2: The Final Shape

As Destiny 2 wraps up the Light and Dark saga, players will soon be facing the final chance to level grind. In The Final Shape, the latest expansion, there have been some changes to the level caps aimed at making it easier for all players, especially New Lights, to reach the soft cap quickly. Unlike previous expansions where 150 levels were required between the floor level and soft cap, this time it only takes 40 levels. This means that simply playing through the Final Shape campaign will automatically place all players at the soft cap.

The new level caps in Destiny 2 are as follows:

  • Power Floor: 1900
  • Soft Cap: 1940
  • Powerful Cap: 1990
  • Hard Cap/Pinnacle Cap: 2000

The jump from the power level floor to the soft cap has been made much easier in The Final Shape, encouraging all players to strive for powerful gear. Bungie has also announced that completing the Final Shape campaign will reward players with a full armor set that boosts their guardian beyond the soft cap to power level 1960.

The Final Shape Raid Level Requirements

To participate in the day one raid for Destiny 2: The Final Shape, players will need to reach power level 1965. This can be achieved by completing the main campaign on normal difficulty and then focusing on obtaining powerful gear. For those looking to expedite the process, finishing the campaign on Legendary difficulty will provide gear that boosts players to level 1960, placing them just five levels below the requirement to access the day one raids.
