A recent set of leaks has unveiled plans for multiple new factions to be introduced to XDefiant, a free-to-play arena game released by Ubisoft. These new factions are said to draw inspiration from popular franchises such as Assassin’s Creed, Far Cry New Dawn, and even the surprise inclusion of the Rabbids franchise.
The leaks, as reported by Kotaku, originated from the X Twitter user ‘Rogue Tx’ and were discovered through data mining. According to the findings, the first four factions making their way to the game will be the Assassins from Assassin’s Creed, operators from Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Breakpoint, GSG9 from Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege, and The Highwaymen from Far Cry New Dawn.
Ubisoft has confirmed the release of four new factions within the upcoming year. Additionally, references to factions based on The Crew and Rabbids were reportedly found in the game’s code. It remains to be seen how a gritty first-person shooter like XDefiant will incorporate the unique elements of Rabbids into its universe.
The leak also hints at new weapons that players can expect in the game, including a sawed-off shotgun, Thompson submachine gun, FAMAS, FAL, Bizon submachine gun, and the G36 rifle. Two new sniper rifles, the L115 and LVOA, are also mentioned. Abilities like deployable barbed wire and remote controlled car, along with a new capture the flag game mode, are rumored to be on the horizon.
Images showcasing this unreleased content have reportedly been subjected to DMCA takedown notices from Ubisoft, suggesting their legitimacy. However, Ubisoft has yet to respond to inquiries from TechRadar Gaming regarding these leaks.
For those eager to experience the game firsthand, XDefiant is currently available for free download and play on PlayStation 5, PC, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S.
