A shape-shifting alien from Universal Pictures’ “The Thing” is about to take on a new form in the upcoming game Funko Fusion, where Funko Pop! collectibles will give it a unique twist.

Funko Fusion will include crossovers from iconic franchises like “Jurassic World,” “Back to the Future,” “Jaws,” “Scott Pilgrim vs. The World,” “Battlestar Galactica,” and more, in addition to surprises from Universal Pictures and beyond. The game is scheduled for release on September 13, 2024, exclusively for Xbox Series X|S.

In Funko Fusion, we at 10:10 Games have combined Funko Pop! collectibles with the classic horror film “The Thing” to create a new action-adventure experience. Our team, comprised of experienced TT Games veterans, aimed to capture the essence of the original 1982 movie while adding our own creative flair.

Working closely with Universal Products & Experiences, we meticulously designed a level based on “The Thing” with input from original set photography and layouts provided by NBCUniversal. This painstaking process took six months as we recreated the Antarctic research U.S. Outpost #31, its characters, and the terrifying shape-shifting alien creatures.

Players will have the opportunity to unlock and control various characters from the film, each with their own unique abilities and nods to the original movie. Get ready to face off against alien enemies with disturbing transformations, starting with The Kennel Thing, an eerie creature with deadly spider legs and acid-spitting abilities.

Funko Fusion introduces a level of unpredictability by allowing playable characters to be infected at any time, turning them into horrifying versions of themselves. The game features iconic scenes from the movie, reimagined with a touch of humor to balance the terror and provide a fresh take on the source material.

Every aspect of Funko Fusion is meticulously crafted to pay homage to the film, incorporating thematic elements like fire, ice, light, and darkness into gameplay mechanics. The game also features an unsettling atmosphere and haunting music inspired by the original score, re-recorded using vintage synthesizers.
