Today’s Connections answers for game #361:

  • YELLOW: MOVE TO ACTION DRIVE, PROMPT, PROPEL, PUSH
  • GREEN: UNO CARDS DRAW, REVERSE, SKIP, WILD
  • BLUE: HAIL SIZE COMPARISONS BASEBALL, GRAPEFRUIT, MARBLE, PEA
  • PURPLE: PLACES WITH BENCHES COURTROOM, DUGOUT, GYM, PARK

  • My rating: Easy
  • My score: Perfect

This puzzle was quite peculiar. I managed to solve the blue group before the yellow one, and the purple group before the green one. Oddly, I couldn’t crack the green group at all – I got it right by default, without knowing the actual answer. It was definitely a strange one…

Initially, I noticed that BASEBALL, PEA, GRAPEFRUIT, and MARBLE are all round objects. Although the connection to HAIL SIZE COMPARISONS didn’t immediately dawn on me, the similarity between them was evident, leading me to the correct answer.

Then, I deciphered the yellow MOVE TO ACTION group – the only one where I understood the logic behind the grouping. This left two more groups to solve. Since COURTOOM, DUGOUT, GYM, and PARK are all locations, it seemed plausible that they were linked, even though I couldn’t pinpoint why. Nevertheless, I input the answer and got the purple group right. Interestingly, the green group stumped me because I lack familiarity with Uno. As I mentioned, it was an unusual challenge…

What is NYT Connections?

NYT Connections is a popular word game series developed by the New York Times. The game tasks players with identifying groups of four items that share a common element, with each group varying in difficulty: green being simple, yellow slightly tougher, blue often challenging, and purple extremely difficult.

Fortunately, you don’t necessarily need to solve the final group, as you can deduce it through process of elimination. Additionally, you’re allowed up to four mistakes, providing some leeway.

Unlike simpler games like Wordle, NYT Connections is more complex and offers numerous opportunities for tricky maneuvers. Beware of homophones and other clever wordplay that may obscure the answers.

You can play NYT Connections for free on desktop or mobile via the NYT Games website.
