In Connections, I always start by shuffling the words right away. The NYT likes to trick you at the beginning by placing rhyming words or similar words in adjacent groups, so it’s best to mix them up early on.

Today’s puzzle was fairly straightforward. After some recent struggles, I felt like I was back on track. I tackled the golf-related group first, followed by the horror movies group. The yellow group was an easy finish before the purple group solved itself.

What is NYT Connections?

NYT Connections is a popular word game created by the New York Times. It challenges players to identify groups of four items that share a commonality. Each group varies in difficulty level, with green being the easiest, yellow slightly harder, blue quite tough, and purple very challenging.

Players are allowed up to four mistakes, and the final group can be solved through process of elimination if needed. The game is more complex than Wordle and offers opportunities for the NYT to use tricks to deceive players, such as homophones and word disguises.

You can play for free on the NYT Games website on desktop or mobile.
