PS2 Classic Sly Cooper and the Thievius Raccoonus a Hit with PS Plus Premium Users

PS2’s Sly Cooper and the Thievius Raccoonus has quickly become a favorite among PS Plus Premium subscribers. Released as part of the June 2024 lineup, Sucker Punch Productions’ game from 2002 has overtaken the previous record-holder, The Legend of Dragoon, as reported by TrueTrophies.

PS2 Classics in High Demand Among PS Plus Premium Subscribers

Collaborating with data tracking company Game Insights, TrueTrophies examined gameplay data from more than 3.1 million active PSN accounts and discovered that Sly Cooper had a 2.5% higher player count at launch compared to The Legend of Dragoon.

When considering the complete lineups of both PS Plus Extra and PS Plus Premium, not just the classics, Sly Cooper is now ranked as the eighth most popular game in 2024 so far (excluding Essential games).

PS2 classics have been a long-standing request from PS Plus Premium members. Sony had faced challenges with emulation which had previously prevented the release of PS2 games on PS4 and PS5, offering only PS1 and PSP classics to Premium subscribers. Following reports of a partnership with an external emulation company to bring beloved PS2 classics to modern consoles, the response from members has been overwhelmingly positive.

Sly Cooper and the Thievius Raccoonus debuted on PS Plus Premium with a full trophy set, and is also available for standalone purchase.
